Our Impact

Our Story

We have spent our entire working careers helping feed Canadians with snacks, an incredibly rewarding journey.

We shifted to a more sustainable lifestyle – consuming more organic food, being more choiceful at home of the products we purchased. We even started working for Natural & Organic food companies.

When our son Wilder was born, we became even more aware of the painfully slow adoption of sustainable packaging in grocery. And we were feeling responsible for the future of our son.

Well, if nobody else was going to do it, why not us?

And that’s our Humble beginning.

OUR MISSION
To Humbly help snack eaters give back and pay it forward to our environment and future generations, one delightful chip at a time.

Our Journey

2012

Saw a HUGE whitespace in Natural Salty Snacks for an Organic Better for You Thin Cut Potato Chip as there was no natural alternative to the most popular style of potato chips!

2018

We wanted to launch an organic potato chip brand but we wanted to solve the massive single use plastic waste created by over 17 millions bags in the landfill every year in North America alone.

2019

We began the compostable bag development and testing on the side while working fulltime.

2021

  • Found a suitable solution for Compostable Chip Bags.
  • Pitched Concept to Loblaws, Sobeys and Whole Foods - All said YES and wanted to launch immediately.
  • In October 2021: we had our first production run. Which failed due to a packaging issue.

2022

  • Humble launched in February 2022
  • In February 2022 we had developed a bag strong enough to sit on store shelves but we continued evolving that packaging to make it stronger.
  • In June 2022, Humble packaging 2.0 was finally in full development and in October we had completed all testing and were thrilled to confirm that it was performing better than plastic!

2023

In January, we began producing and shipping our delicious chips in our new improved BPI certified compostable bags!
THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

2024

After encountering product quality issues, we transitioned from using BPI Compostable packaging and forged a partnership with Plastic Negative, aligning with their mission to diminish plastic usage and contribute to the planet's cleanup efforts. Plastic Negative is a pioneering organization dedicated to not only reducing plastic consumption but also actively removing plastic waste from the environment.

Great chips! Tried the creamy dill flavour and it was probably the best I've had. They're not too salty or greasy, but they still have that satisfying crunch. Sometimes I find some chips to be hard or too thick and they end up almost cutting my cheek, but these chips are thin and perfectly cooked! 11/10!Also love how their bags are plastic free

Had the original flavour. Not overly greasy, not overly salted. Perfect snack! Will definitely buy it again.*Only complaint would be the bag tears easily, however the bag is plastic free.

We found Humble chips at Costco and we are impressed. The chips are, as is printed on the bag, light and crispy. There is no greasy feeling about them and the taste is outstanding, just right in terms of salt and seasoning. The eco- friendly bag is a real plus and we are proud to support a Canadian company. It was our first bag but certainly not the last.

Absolutely LOVE the sea salt and cider vinegar one!!! I am normally not a big fan of chips and very picky when I do eat chips. But these were amazing the perfect thickness and crunch to it!! So tasty! The perfect amount of seasoning too. Literally ate the whole bag in one sitting lol and they’re organic wow 10/10

I met Jeff today at Zehrs in Guelph and he stopped my son and I to offer us samples of his Humble Potato Chips. I made a joke about myself being 70% potatoe and gleefully accepted his sample. Both flavours that we tried were really great. While nibbling he told us about the brand and the difference they are making. I promptly scooped up a bag of all flavours. I've now had 3 out of 5 flavours and they are all delicious. Thanks Jeff! It was really nice seeing an owner out hustling the brand rather than someone paid to hand out samples. We are happy to support a local, organic and eco friendly product
